About Myself

Well, I finally completed my goal of an entire week of daily blog posts!  I have been wanting to complete this goal for some time now and I am so proud of myself that I finally did.  I honestly doubt that I will post every day, actually right now I could tell you that is not at all going to happen, I am too busy!  Although, I think from now on I will post when I am most in need of posting, maybe three or four times a week, but I am trying not to stricken myself when to post.  Now that my week of blogging is done, I want to really introduce myself and this Blog, which I really have not done yet.

My name is Skylar, and I have always had a passion for two things: musical theatre and writing.  Fun fact, I used to write so much as a child that I would often get fractures in my wrist from writing so intensely!  My real passion and career I am pursuing though, is musical theatre.  I have always wanted to be an actress and a singer, especially on Broadway, although I dream of every aspect of acting.  I dream big, and I am not ashamed of that, my dreams are what can lift me up when I am down.  My absolute goal in life is to become an E.G.O.T – Winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award!

Despite myself mainly being in the UK Blogger community on Twitter, I do live in America!  My absolute favorite place in the entire world is New York City, I absolutely adore it there.  My mother and her mother before that was born and raised in Scotland, and I am very proudly of Scottish and English descent.  My grandmother had a very deep Scottish accent and always raised me to be “strictly Scottish”, may God rest her soul.

Throughout my times in school, I never had many friends.  Mainly, because I am a theatre kid, but despite that I am very quiet and content.  When I know people, I am truly loud as can be, but other times I am the quietest in the room.  I would say I contain more street smarts than book smarts, and I honestly prefer it that way.

I adore great literature and Old Hollywood films, I have my entire life.  I grew up on Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand (whom I saw in concert this past Summer!!) and they are the biggest inspirations for my acting dreams.  Oh, and Julie Christie is the greatest actress in the world in my opinion.

I created this blog because I simply love writing, yet I have not time and dedication to ever write a complete novel.  Though, I would absolutely love to one day.  The name Darling came from my favorite Julie Christie film, Darling (1965), and Candidly was just a name I added in!  I am very content with my blog name I must say.

I absolutely love reading fashion blogs, they inspire my style so much.  Plus, I wanted to share some of my style with people, so why not do it with a blog!  I love writing lifestyle posts, too, I think they can really help some people.  I know many bloggers lifestyle posts have helped me in the past.  Eventually, I want to start writing posts on serious matters I have dealt with in my life, such as anxiety and stress, but I am not yet ready to write of that publicly.  I know talking about these things would for sure take much pressure off my back, and I know they could help others dealing with the same issues feel as if they are not alone.  No one is alone.

I am a very nostalgic, sentimental, imperfect person, but that only makes me a human being.  I cannot wait to progress moe with this blog, and to share my aspects of life with some of you.  I will do the best I can, as always, and I hope you enjoy my many more posts to come!  You are special, and a thousand times thank you for reading this post or my others!

Introduce yourselves or your blogs in the comments or tweet me at @candidlydarling I would love to get to know you all!

  4. This was a lovely read to get to know you! I sure hope you do become an E.G.O.T because that sounds absolutely amazing. Being in theater sounds like such fun but I’m sure it can be hard with all the different personality types. I started my blog about my dating app adventures at a friend’s suggestion and it’s proven to be quite fun and entertaining so I can’t complain. (:
