My Heart Belongs in New York City

I would like to dedicate today’s post to my favorite place (that I have been so far) in the world, which is New York City.  I’ve been to NYC a few times, and each time I always find myself as happy as possible, and I always long to go back.  This will be more of a photo gallery, but it’s a post I’m very happy to be writing!

New York City is such an alive and booming place, and it truly is the city that never sleeps. I myself love being in an active city, with different types of people on every corner.  For some reason, this feeling is more homely to me.

I myself have stayed in the quiet and loud sides of NYC, and I must say, both are equally wonderful!  I’ve stayed in the Upper West Side, which is a fairly quiet and calm section of the city, and the brown stone buildings are absolutely beautiful as always.

The other part I have stayed in was literally the heart of Times Square.  This section is obviously loud and filled with people, but the hotels all have high floors, so you rarely hear anything from your hotel room.  Below are photos of my view as soon as I stepped out of my hotel:

If I could choose a favorite I stayed, I would personally say Times Square.  Mainly, because all of the Broadway shows I see are within walking distance, and it is very easy to get to subway stations from there as well.  Though, I do see many others, including my parents, who prefer to stay in the quiet section, because it is quite peaceful there.

If you are going to NYC, no matter where you stay is a wonderful experience.  Central Park is extremely large and very beautiful, especially in the Summer time.

My absolute favorite place in NYC, that I visit every time I go there, is The Plaza Hotel.  To me, it is the most beautiful building that I could never afford to stay at!  It is my dream wedding destination, too.  I have eaten in their underground cafeteria, and I must say, the food is very fancy, but very expensive!  If you would ever eat there, I recommend getting one of their many delicious desserts.

Views of the city, I have very mixed feelings about.  I have been to the top of the Rockefeller, and the top of the new One World Observatory in place of where the Twin Towers stood.  I am extremely afraid of heights, so I was very nervous on going to both!  Top of The Rock is outdoors, which was terrifying, but the views were wonderful.  One World Observatoey is all indoors, and being the tallest building in the city, the views are incredible.

I hope this post could educate those who have never been to the city, and I hope everyone can go one day! It is truly an amazing city, and I tend to move there is two years, I cannot wait!

Love,

Skylar

  3. I would LOVE to visit New York, it looks like such an amazing place to go and explore. The Mr has an aunt who lives about 2 hours out of the city and I’d love to go visit her one day and make it a reality! America is definitely a dream destination for me! 😊 x

  4. I really enjoyed this post. I’m in the process of booking a holiday to NY this year, hopefully April. There’s some fun experiences I want to add ( SATC and Gossip Girl tours. Don’t judge me). I really want to see their museums and ride the subway. What hotel did you stay at? Any advice on who to book with? X

  5. NYC is indeed the best place in the world. I’ve been there 4+ times (because we live in NJ), and my favorite section is Western Midtown. Bryant Park and the library are awesome! I would like to visit the Upper sides and Central Park. Which section of Manhattan do you like the most?
